Peterborough / June 2010 - The MoD has further developed its working partnership with Aebi Schmidt UK by awarding them the contract to supply and maintain 30 x AS 990 Runway Sweepers with SNK Snowploughs mounted on Mercedes-Benz chassis. Against intense international competition the Schmidt AS 990 was selected on the grounds of its technical prowess along with class-leading sweeping performance from the aerodynamic construction of the suction nozzle. The vehicles will be used in military bases around the world and to date Aebi Schmidt have produced 400 units world-wide as well as 10,000 SNK Snowploughs. The AS 990’s will be mounted on Mercedes-Benz Axor truck chassis and will have the same state of the art controls common to all Aebi Schmidt Airport equipment. Full training will be provided at key bases in the UK and there will be 15 years In Service Support for all machines. The ability to fulfil all the technical requirements and to be able to guarantee the full 15 years In Service Support were major factors in Aebi Schmidt being awarded this prestigious contract. Aebi Schmidt are the leading supplier to the MoD of runway sweeping, snow clearance and de-icing equipment.
